Director fo Pagliacci for Opera Monte Carlo, next season he returns to Monte Carlo for a new production of Verdi’s Otello and to Palermo for a new production of La Favorite. After his studies of musicology and classical singing in Geneva’s Conservatory of Music, he works as stage manager and assistant director in the Grand Théâtre de Genève with stage directors such as Robert Lepage, Daniel Schmid, Robert Carsen, Benno Besson and Francesca Zambello. In 1995 he moves to Barcelona, ​​Spain, to undertake studies of cinema direction at the Centre d’Estudis Cinematogràfic de Catalunya. In 2000 he directs the play “Torrijas de Cerdo” at the Teatro Llantiol in Barcelona. In 2001 he works as assistant director in the opera-movie “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Giancarlo Menotti, directed by Francesca Zambello for the BBC. In 2002, he directs the play “Gaviotas Subterráneas” by Alfonso Vallejo, at the Theatre Can Felipa and the following season in the Sala Beckett, one of the most important contemporary theaters in Spain. From 2003, he works as assistant stage director at the Opera National de Paris (Bastille) in operas such as “Guillaume Tell” staged by Francesca Zambello, “Le Nozze di Figaro” staged by Giorgio Strehler, “Die Fledermaus” staged by Coline Serreau, “Peter Grimes” staged by Graham Vick, “Capriccio” staged by Robert Carsen (Palais Garnier) among others. In Paris as well, for the Théâtre du Châtelet, “La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein” directed by Laurent Pelly. In 2005 he is invited to work in Valencia new opera house Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia as Production Coordinator and Head of the Stage where he collaborates in new productions such as “Carmen”, “Turandot” and “Parsifal,” with Carlos Saura, Chen Kaige and Werner Herzog, respectively. In the 2007-2008 season he directs the revival of the operas “Madama Butterfly” by Puccini, and in 2009, “Turandot” both with Lorin Maazel as musical director. He directs Plácido Domingo as Siegmund in “Die Walküre” by Richard Wagner in La Fura dels Baus production, with Zubin Mehta conducting and broadcasted live from Valencia to several cities in Europe. In August 2009, he directs the opera “Turandot” by Puccini in the production of Chen Kaige for the Opera Festival in A Coruña, Spain, and in November of the same year in Monte Carlo Opera. With La Fura dels Baus he collaborates in the staging of the opera “Les Troyens” under the baton of Valery Gergiev. In April 2010, he directs and designs the costumes for the opera “Yerma” by Heitor Villa-Lobos at the XIV Festival Amazonas of Opera in Manaus, Brazil. In addition to his operatic activities worldwide, he also collaborates with the “Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo” in Valencia. His last important works are “Die Walküre” and “Siegfried” for the Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville, in the production of La Fura dels Baus (2011-2012) “Opérame” with tenor Jose Manuel Zapata, a new production of “Tristan und Isolde” with Zubin Mehta (2012), “Die Walküre” with Zubin Mehta in Valencia (2013) and “Carmen” (also as set designer) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (April 2014.) The revival of his production “Opérame” for ABAO at Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao (May 2014).
